PTA NEWS

This is a message from VUSD:

My name is Colleen Hervey, a parent of middle and high school students who would like to inform you about a very special workshop on Wednesday evening, May 16th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Madison Middle School gym located at 4930 Lake Blvd., Oceanside.

All parents in Vista and students in grades 5 – 8 are invited. Parents will learn effective communication skills to help their children make healthy choices FOR themselves.  Dr. Matt Bellace is a youth motivational speaker and stand-up comedian whose program "How to Get High Naturally” encourages over a hundred thousand students a year to pursue natural highs and make healthy choices!

Students in grade 5-8 will have the opportunity to work with trained High School mentors about the importance of finding their Natural High and sticking with it!

Free childcare will be provided for children ages 3-10 .To register, call 760.724.6783 ext. 101, Return the registration form to your school office by May 11th, or visit the Natural High Website at: www.naturalhigh.org"

Welcome Madison Parents and Friends,

My name is Joanne Vivier and I'm your PTA President.  I am very excited to begin another school year at Madison (this will be my 8th year). We have many great events and activities planned for the students and families of Madison.

PTA will continue to sponsor "Snack Break" which is our main fundraiser for the entire year. Every Friday during 2nd and 3rd period, students will have an opportunity to purchase healthy snacks. Each month they will also be able to purchase Jamba Juice and Dippin Dots. All of the proceeds stay directly here at Madison and help PTA provide programs, teacher supplies and activities that would otherwise be unavailable due to budget cuts.

This year we will be having our annual Book Fair which is scheduled for November 1-4, followed by a school carnival on November 5th.  PTA will also be providing many assemblies throughout the year.  A new program we are very excited about is called Natural High.  Rancho brought it to their campus last year and we are bringing it to Madison this year.  It helps kids figure out what is their natural high, like dancing, baseball, surfing, etc., as an alternative to drugs and alcohol.

As you can see, we have a busy year planned for our students and families. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions, concerns, suggestions or even it you just want to help at JoanneV@cox.net.  We are always looking for volunteers.

Thanks for all your support.  Go Mustangs!
