Dress Code 
 

(California Education Code Section No. 35183 - Dress Code;
Palomar High School believes that appropriate dress and grooming contribute to a productive learning environment. Clothing which is gang related or is a distraction from the educational process is prohibited from campus. 

Listed below is a summary of the dress code.

  • Shoes are worn at all times.
  • Shirts with logos that promote alcohol, tobacco, drugs, gangs, tagging, violence, or bigotry will not be permitted.
  • See through tops or spaghetti straps are not permitted.
  • Clothing that is too tight or too low cut is not permitted.
  • Undergarments are not to be seen.
  • No baggy or oversized pants or overalls will not be permitted 
  • Shorts and long pants must be worn at waist will no be permitted. No short shorts.
  • Belts must be in all loops and initial belt buckles are not permitted.
  • Shorts or pant legs that are slit or frayed are not allowed.
  • No hats, baseball type caps, hair nets, bandanas, or other hair covering will be worn in the school buildings on campus.
  • Articles of clothing, jewelry or accessories that, per the discretion of teachers and/or the administration, would pose a threat to the physical well-being and safety of the students or others may not be worn.
  • No slippers or bare feet.
  • Chains which hang from clothing or wallet are prohibited. 

Consequences

1. First offense – Warning; given loaner t-shirt to cover-up, documented in student’s discipline file; other consequences per administrative discretion.  

2. Second offense – Given loaner t-shirt, documented in student’s discipline file; other consequences per administrative discretion.  

3. Third offense – Given loaner t-shirt, documented in student’s discipline file, parent contacted, other consequences per administrative discretion.  

4. Continued Offenses: conference with parents, possible suspension, and possible change of placement.
