Re: Public Announcement: Intent to Submit Grant Applications for:

1) a 21st Century High School After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) Program, and 

2) 21st Century Community Learning Center Programs for Elementary 

and Middle School Students

Vista Unified School District, in collaboration with the San Diego County Office of Education, intends to submit applications to the California Department of Education for a 21st Century High School After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) Program, and for a 21st Century Community Learning Center Programs for elementary and middle school students.  

If the grants come to fruition, funds will be used to continue the ASSETs programs at Vista, Rancho Buena Vista, Major General Murray and Alta Vista high schools, and, to establish 21st Century Community Learning Center programs at Breeze Hill and Mission Meadows elementary schools, and Vista Magnet and Madison middle schools.  Additionally, grant funds would be used to expand the existing After School Education and Safety (ASES) Programs at Beaumont, Casita, Foothill Oak, Maryland, Temple Heights and Hannalei elementary schools.

21st Century programs provide structured after school programming for schools.  Students participating in the programs receive academic assistance and enrichment activities designed to complement their regular academic program.  The programs also provide a safe environment for students during the critical after school hours.
