Procedures for K-5 Intradistrict Transfers
BOARD POLICY #5002(G2): No student currently residing within a school's attendance area shall be displaced by pupils transferring in from outside the attendance area.
Procedures for K-5 Intradistrict Transfers:
-
March 1 of each school year is the deadline to file an intradistrict transfer for the following school year.
- Pupils who comply with this deadline will be placed in a lottery and be assigned a priority number.
-
An intradistrict transfer received after the March 1 deadline will be considered on a space availability case-by-case basis.
-
A pupil who moves out of school of residence boundaries before the end of the school year and files an intradistrict transfer may remain at that school site until the end of the current school year. The pupil must then enroll at his/her school of residence or, may submit an application for an intradistrict transfer, through the lottery process, but has precedence over pupil on lottery waiting list who has never attended school of choice (assuming same grade).
-
A pupil who moves out of school of residence boundaries at the end of the school year and files an intradistrict transfer for the next year has precedence over a pupil on lottery waiting list who has never attended school of choice (assuming same grade).
-
A pupil attending on approved intradistrict transfer takes precedence over another pupil who has just moved out of school of residence boundaries and files intradistrict transfer in order to remain at school of choice (assuming same grade).
-
Once an intradistrict transfer pupil has been accepted at a school site, he/she may remain there without further application (unless a specified time out was given) until promotion from that school site if there is space available; however, if attendance, behavior, and academic standards are not maintained it may be revoked.
-
Priority may be given to an intradistrict transfer applicant to concurrently attend the same school site as their sibling(s).
-
Full-time members of the classified or certificated bargaining unit may have their child attend the school site of their employment until promotion from that school site if there is space available.
-
Intradistrict transfer requests must be approved by the principals at both the "sending" and "receiving" schools.
