Primary Remedial Program

Components:

• Mandated for pupils in grades 2-6 who have been retained or notified they will be retained (no cap)

Secondary Remedial Program

Components:

• Mandated for pupils in grades 7-12 who do not demonstrate sufficient progress to pass the high school exit exam (CAHSEE)
• CAHSEE limits offerings to English and math.
• Mandated for pupils in grades 7-9 who have been retained or have been notified that they will be retained.
• No authorization to also serve pupils in grades 7-9 at risk of being retained (unless they also meet HSEE standards).
• Neither component has a cap

Core Academic Enrichment

• For pupils in grades K-12 in any core academic subject as well as English as a Second Language
• 5% cap
  • Equal to 5% of prior year's K-12 enrollment times 120 hours
• Must be tied to core curriculum and state standards

All Programs

• All programs may be offered before school, after school, and on Saturdays - as well as summer school
• A pupil is deemed to be enrolled in a grade immediately upon completion of prior grade
